George Ella Lyon – award-winning author of forty books for readers of all ages. Recent titles include The Pirate of Kindergarten (Atheneum, 2010), winner of the American Library Association’s Schneider Family Book Award; You and Me and Home Sweet Home, a Jane Addams Honor Book (Atheneum, 2009); Back (poetry, Wind, 2010); and Harvest of Fire: New and Collected Work by Lee Howard, which she edited (MotesBooks, 2010). 


Heather Henson – previous children’s book editor at HarperCollins Publishers and now an award-winning author of both novels for young readers and picture books. 

That Book Woman (Atheneum, 2008), illustrated by David Small, won a Christopher Medal and a Great Lakes Book Award, and it was a finalist for numerous state awards. She also is the author of Angel Coming (Atheneum, 2005) and Grumpy Grandpa (Atheneum, 2009).


Susan Eaddy – During fifteen years as an art director, Susan art illustrated over 80 books in the educational market, won international 3D illustration awards, and garnered a Grammy nomination for her work on record album covers. Now a fulltime artist and author, she produces whimsical illustrations for children’s books and magazines by creating 3D relief sculptures with plasticine or polymer clay. Her 1st trade picture book, Papa Fish’s Lullaby (NorthWord Books For Young Readers, 2007) and her board books licensed with the Smithsonian Institute First Look at Aircraft (2008), First Look at Trucks (2008), and First Look at Rescue Vehicles (2009) all include 3D sculptures created in polymer clay.


Patsi B. Trollinger will provide supplemental information about nonfiction picture books and will moderate the panel presentation. She is the author of a picture book biography, Perfect Timing, a Junior Library Guild selection (Viking, 2006; Benjamin Press, 2011) and numerous magazine articles.
